Distribution of films and film companies

The film company most likely to distribute my film is Warner bros. Pictures as it shows a wide variety of films including some the same genre as ours, some of it's recent productions have been the Dark knight(2008) and The Departed(2006) [also two of my 6 films analyzed] as well as V for Vendetta(2006) a film which also deals with the same idea of corruption in government as our film does.

Distribution is the highly competitive business of launching and sustaining films in the market place. It's vital to the health of the film industry as a whole. Films don't become well known, or find their place in the world, by accident. The distributor's challenge is to bring each one to market, starting from scratch and realizing its potential.

The normal procedures for film distribution in the UK are as follows:

*Producer/company acquires rights to film a story or treatment

*Screenplay is developed

*Production finance and cast and crew are confirmed

*Principal photography takes place, in studios and/or on agreed locations, followed
by some months of post-production, editing and scoring

*Master print of finished film is delivered to local distributor

*Distributor determines release strategy and release date

*Distributor presents the film to exhibitors and negotiates bilateral agreements
to have the film shown in cinemas

Target audience for my film: The target audience for my film is 15-17 year olds. I think that they will be able to familiarise with what our film is trying to accomplish and get a firm grasp on what is going on throughout the movie finding relevance in the events as well as enjoying it as a classic thriller movie with various plot twists. It gives a good understanding of what corruption in goverment would likely be like and we wish to appeal to our targets audeience interest in this.
